Мощный инструмент для 3D-дизайна и анимаций. Blender можно использовать для создания трёхмерных моделей, наложения текстур, развёртки (создание двумерных картинок для наложения на 3D-объект), создания анимаций, симуляции частиц, и даже создания интерактивных трёхмерных приложений (таких, например, как игры и анимированные фильмы). С помощью Blender-a можно анимировать модели, основанные на скелетах, моделировать жидкости и гибкие тела. Сцены можно программировать с использованиям Python-скриптов.
Blender распространяется с исходными кодами под лицензией GPL.
Программа нетребовательна к ресурсам компьютера, если сравнивать с другими трёхмерными пакетами, но для рендеринга сложных сцен, разумеется, нужен быстрый компьютер.
Одной из черт Blender-a является относительная сложность в освоении, так как графический интерфейс его отличается от других подобных продуктов, а также из-за наличия большого числа команд, которые вызываются горячими клавишами: подавляющее большинство команд можно вызвать клавиатурными комбинациями. Кроме непривычного интерфейса, Blender страдает от отсутствия полной документации, так как изначально этот продукт разрабатывался не для широкой публики.
По функциям Blender практически не уступает коммерческим 3D пакетам, при том являясь единственным бесплатным продуктом в этой области.
А вот что пишет о Блендере Bohtex (кстати, спасибо за пост):
Совершенно не согласен по поводу отсутствия документации, или ошибаетесь, или ваша инфа устарела. Вот достоинства Blender:
- Опенсорц, лицензия BGPL (GPL слегонца измененный). Это означает, что всегда будет свободным, не прекратит своё развитие пока существует сообщество. Никто его не может купить и прикрыть, как это делают постоянно мелкомягкие. Сотни расширений и скриптов, которые также создаются сообществом. Нет навязывания и вымогательства, нет мошенничества.
- Революционный и экспериментальный подход к созданию 3d-контента, программеры Blender-a не скованы требованиями рынка, следовательно, они спокойно внедряют все что взбредёт в голову, учитывая желания сообщества. Поэтому в нем много уникальных фич, и много заимствованных вещей из других пакетов, которые действительно имеют силу. Кстати, в последних версиях все просто замечательно, но вот меня раздражает что некрасивые горизонтальные панели кнопок, как это было раньше. Думаю, исправят.
- Мультиплатформа — работает на чем попало, от вантуза до я хз чего, я даже и не знаю ирисы какие-то. Мне достаточно, что пашет в линуксах, во фряхе, а вантуз в топку.
- Очень быстр в плане своего кода, бережлив к ресурсам компа. Даже дистр Blender-а весит 35-50 мегобайт, распространяется в «чистом» виде, без горы материалов, примеров, рекламы и прочего говна. Этот факт, кстати, тоже отпугивает — что за современный 3d-пакет так мало может весить? наверное, шняга какая-то... Макс столько же весит, если выкинуть весь рекламный мусор. Макс раздувают для продажи, дескать вы покупаете не мало — 1.5 гига!!! А там 99% - мусор. Урезанный, «портативный» макс, со всеми своими материалами и плагинами болтается по торентам в размере 160-200 метров.
- Blender не считает вас идиотом, потому не боится быть сложным для изучения. Ему плевать, что вы о нем думаете. Это важный момент. Для комфортной работы мало хорошего красочного интерфейса с большими яркими кнопками для идиотов, а нужно еще чувствовать себя понимающим работу той или иной функции. (Опять аналогия с линуксами: хочешь заставить работать как надо, сначала изучи принципы). Почему? Потому что, например, вряд ли вы будете доверять врачу-нейрохирургу, который не может быть фельдшером, т. е. тупо неспособен принять роды. Все связано.
