uTorrent - бесплатный клиент BitTorrent для скачивания торрентов, а также для их раздачи. μTorrent пока работает только на платформе Windows.
μTorrent загружает файлы по протоколу BitTorrent. Этот протокол работает так, что скачивая файл (торрент), вы не только получаете его себе, но и делитесь этим файлом с другими пользователями Интернет, которым этот файл тоже нужен. При этом в обмене файлами нет "главного" сервера, откуда все скачивают файлы, однако, есть так называемые торрент-трекеры, на которых ведётся учёт торрентов, которые доступны для скачивания. Сами же данные находятся сразу у многих пользователей Сети. Благодаря такой децентрализации достигаются, как правило, более высокие скорости закачек, чем при скачивании с обычного веб-сервера.
Кроме выполнения своей основной задачи, - скачивания и раздачи файлов - uTorrent обладает огромными возможностями.
- Возможно задать ограничения на скорости закачек как отдельных торрентов, так на суммарную скорость. Можно задать ограничения на количество одновременно качаемых торрентов,
- При закачке сразу нескольких торрентов есть возможность задать приоритет торрентам и даже отдельным файлам. Торренты можно выстроить в очередь на закачку, чтобы они скачивались в нужном вам порядке.
- Прогресс закачки и раздачи визуально отображается различными способами. Есть понятный график текущей скорости закачки.
- Торрентам можно задавать метки, например "ужасы", "комедия", "треш-панк" и так далее. В дальнейшем вам будет легче найти нужный торрент среди многих закачанных.
- Есть возможность автоматического скачивания торрентов, публикуемых в виде RSS-лент.
- Удалённое управление μTorrent возможно через веб-интерфейс, который по функциональности и наглядности почти не уступает обычному интерфейсу μTorrent.
- Графический интерфейс μTorrent переведён на множество языков, включая русский.
μTorrent, пожалуй, является самым функциональным клиентом BitTorrent на платформе Windows.
